ISU World Standings for Figure Skating and Ice Dancing

1. OBJECTIVES
1.1.
To present to the public at large and the media, an acceptable
and accountable standings system of all skaters in figure
skating in a particular season.
1.2.
To guarantee objectivity and a process for selection of
individual entries to the various ISU events. To provide
an acceptable explanation for athletes not accepted entry.
1.3.
To provide athletes with a competitive explanation vis a vis
their standings with fellow athletes.

2. PRINCIPLES OF APPLICATION
2.1.
Based on results of the preceding three years. Each year is
weighted with a different percentage (factor).
2.2.
The following events will be considered:
(i) ISU Championships and Olympic Games
(ii) ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events (senior) including the Final
(iii) ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events including the Final
(iv) International Senior Calendar Competitions, provided there
are minimum 8 single skaters, 6 dance teams out of four ISU
Members present respectively 5 Pairs out of three ISU Members
2.3.
The amount of points to score for each competitor/couple depends on
2.3.1.
the final placement
2.3.2.
the total amount of points designated for that particular event
2.4.
Within the three years period the following events will be
considered for the ranking order, years' factors as per 3.4 to be
considered:
2.4.1.
ISU Championships and Olympic Winter Games:
The best result by points per season;
the best two results by points over a period not longer than 3
completed seasons plus the current season.
2.4.2.
ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating and Final:
The two best results by points per season;
the best four results by points over a period not longer than 3
completed seasons plus the current season.
2.4.3.
ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating:
The two best results by points per season;
the best four results by points over a period not longer than 3
completed seasons plus the current season.
2.4.4.
International Senior Calendar Competitions:
The two best results by points per season;
the best four results by points over a period not longer than 3
completed seasons plus the current season.
2.4.5.
For Pairs either the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating or
the Senior Grand Prix of Figure Skating will be considered for points.
The decision will be based on the two best possible results.
2.4.6.
After the current season's World Championships, the longest
standing results (i.e. those from 4 seasons previously) will be deleted.
2.5.
Pairs and Dance teams with a new partner will start with 0 points.
There is no transfer of points to either partner.
2.6.
Available points per event:
2.6.1.
ISU Championships with a set amount of total points
2.6.2.
ISU Grand Prix events (Junior and Senior) and International
Calendar Senior Competitions with a variable amount ofpoints.
The total amount of points is the sum of the individual total
points of the participating skaters per discipline. In case
the total amount of points the skaters bring into the event is
less than the minimum amount of points as set, this minimum
must be taken into consideration.
2.7.
The World Standings order will be updated after each event
mentioned in paragraph 2.2 (i) to (iii).
2.8.
Only eligible persons will participate in the World Standings System.

3.1. ISU Championships

3.1.1.
World Figure Skating Championships Singles, Dance 1 - 24; Pairs 1 - 20
3.1.2.
Olympic Winter Games Singles, Dance 1 - 24; Pairs 1 - 20
3.1.3.
European Championships Singles, Dance 1 - 24; Pairs 1 - 20
3.1.4.
Four Continents Championships Singles, Dance 1 - 24; Pairs 1 - 20
3.1.5.
Junior World Championships Singles, Dance 1 - 24; Pairs 1 - 20

3.2. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating and Final
3.2.1. Senior Grand Prix events and Final... places 1 - 6
3.2.2. Junior Grand Prix events and Final... places 1 - 8

3.3. International Competitions
3.3.1.
International Senior Competition with the restriction as
to 2.2.(iv)... places 1 - 3

3.4. Weight (Factor) per year
* Current and intermediate season's earned points will count 100 %
* Previous season's earned points will count 70 %
* 2 years ago /season's earned points will count 50 %

4. POINTS AVAILABLE
4.1. ISU Championships
4.1.1. World Championships max. available points: 15.000
4.1.2. Olympic Winter Games max. available points: 15.000
4.1.3. European Championships max. available points: 10.500
4.1.4. Four Continents Championships max.available points: 10.500
4.1.5. Junior Skating Championships max. available points: 6.000

4.2. Grand Prix of Figure Skating
4.2.1. ISU Grand Prix event (senior) and Final
The total amount of points the participants bring into the
event, based of the highest amount of points received in the
previous ISU Championship (see 5.2.1) or 3.000 points as the
minimum points, whichever is higher.

4.2.2. ISU Junior Grand Prix events and Final
The total amount of points the participants bring into the
event, based of the highest amount of points received in the
previous ISU Championship (see 5.2.1) or 1.500 points as the
minimum points, whichever is higher.

4.3. International Calendar Senior Competitions
The total amount of points the participants bring into the
event, based of the highest amount of points received in the
previous ISU Championship (see 5.2.1) or 500 points as the
minimum points, whichever is higher.

5. DISTRIBUTION OF POINTS / CALCULATION
5.1. ISU Championships

5.1.1. World Figure Skating Championships or Olympic Games
- total of points: 15.000 points (each place with a step of 50
points):

2nd place..... 1.150 points
3rd place..... 1.100 points

5.2.1.
The individual amount of points per skater/couple are based
on the highest number of points this skater/couple gained in
an ISU Figure Skating Championship of the previous season.
At the time of the first draw of the discipline concerned
the individual points of each competitor/couple, who
participates in the draw, will be added to a total, which
represents the total score of that discipline. If this total
score is less than the minimum amount of points,
the minimum amount of points will be considered.

5.2.2.
20% of the total amount per discipline (total score) will be awarded
between the placed skaters/couples.

5.2.3.
decimal points will be rounded up.

5.3. ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events and Final
5.3.1.
The individual amount of points per skater/couple are based
on the highest number of points this skater/couple gained in
an ISU Figure Skating Championship of the previous season.
At the time of the first draw of the discipline concerned
the individual points of each competitor/couple, who
participates in the draw, will be added to a total, which
represents the total score of that discipline. If this total
score is less than the minimum amount of points, the minimum
amount of points will be considered.

5.3.2.
20% of the total amount per discipline (total score) will be
awarded between the placed skaters/couples.

5.4. International Calendar Competitions (senior)
5.4.1.
The individual amount of points per skater/couple are based
on the highest number of points this skater/couple gained in
an ISU Figure Skating Championship of the previous season (as to 5.2.1).
At the time of the first draw of the discipline concerned
the individual points of each competitor/couple,who
participates in the draw, will be added to a total, which
represents the total score of that discipline. If this total
score is less than the minimum amount of points as to 5.2.1,
the minimum amount of points will be considered.

5.4.2.
10% of the total amount per discipline (total score) will be
awarded Of which the following places will participate:
1st place..... 40 %
2nd place..... 33 %
3rd place..... 27 %

5.4.3.
decimal points will be rounded up.
